Matomo Extension - Tracking Your Website With Matomo
If you have a website and you want to track the usage of it with Matomo, but you don’t want to create an account or log in to your website, you can use this extension.
It injects a small piece of code into your website, so that it creates a user account in Matomo and tracks the user activity. This includes page views, time spent on the page, which pages are visited, etc.
If you use this extension, you need to be aware of some limitations. Some pages, such as ads, won’t be tracked by Matomo. This is because Matomo does not store the data of non-users. In other words, the data of a visitor who visits your website for the first time will not be stored. This is required by the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect on May 25, 2018.
Matomo, a leading open source web analytics software, does not store personal data such as email addresses, phone numbers, location data, or IP addresses.
